Anna Belle

Anna Belle

A true southern belle, you treasure your husband, Gambling Jack. Many years ago, you met Jack while he was gambling his life away down on the riverboats in Charleston. At the time when you met Jack, he had a losing record at the poker tables. Despite his unsuccessful career, you fell in love with Jack and he fell in love with your money. At the beginning of the relationship, it was you (with your family money) that funded Jack’s desire to be a professional poker player. Since the time of your meeting, Jack has turned his career around to become one of the best poker players around. As a woman who likes attention, you very much enjoy being married to a poker phenomenon. Among your duties as a faithful wife, you have traveled here to Deadwood to support Jack while he gambled in the Deadwood Poker Tournament. Since Jack is on a five-year winning streak, you greatly enjoy coming to the tournaments to watch him win. Jack has always referred to you as his ‘good luck charm’ and that is exactly what you intended to be. However, after witnessing your husband’s loss in the tournament earlier today, you are enraged and convinced that someone must have cheated. How else could Jack lose? After observing the other gamblers in the tournament, you are sure that Holly Hickok was the one who MUST have cheated and caused your husband to lose. Earlier this week, you caught Holly flirting with your husband and a woman with such a lack of morals is sure to be a cheater, too.

While at the tournament, you have also seen Poker Alice (the poker dealer) has a keen eye for your husband. Not wanting to trust any of the women, you watched Alice more closely only to observe that Billy-the-Bartender has a fond affection for Poker Alice, one you think that Alice may be abusing. While your husband is more concerned about saving face at the tournament party tonight and bonding with Harry High-Stakes (an old-time buddy), you are focused on getting revenge on whoever put your husband’s good name to shame by causing him to lose. Although you are happy to attend the Deadwood Saloon Poker Tournament Party to be sociable with the other party guests, you also look at the party as an opportunity to defend your husband and his good name!

Acting and Dressing Your Part:

As a dignified woman, originally from the South, you consider yourself above all of the people from the West. Drawing from your roots, you will want to wear a Victorian style dress, along with a hoop skirt and carry a parasol. At the party, you will hold yourself with an air of superiority and insist that someone has cheated your husband out of winning the tournament.
