Billy-The-Bartender
As the bartender and bookkeeper of the saloon, you consider yourself an integral part of the Deadwood Saloon. Because of your long-standing relationship with Harry High-Stakes (the saloon owner) Harry trusts you immensely. Just three months ago, Harry asked you to start managing the saloon finances. You are honored that Harry would ask you to take on this task instead of his wife, Henrietta. Although you have been doing your best to make the finances balance and to keep the accounting straight, somehow the sales and the profits do not match. The only conclusion you can draw is that someone must be stealing from the saloon. Until you can figure out who is to blame for the losses, you have decided to keep quiet about the situation. As the bartender for the Deadwood Saloon, you lead a rather comfy life. You have grown accustomed to the regulars that frequent the saloon and you would hate to lose your lifestyle because of the saloon’s financial troubles. Because you have been responsible for the financial ends of the saloon, you are aware that the bank has been threatening to repossess the saloon, which is the last thing that you want to happen. If the bank does repossess the saloon, there are rumors that Banker Bob (the bank owner) will sell the saloon to Montgomery Money (an investor). Under Montgomery’s control, you fear the investor will care little for the establishment, its customers or its employees. Among other things, your job provides you with the opportunity to spend time with Poker Alice (the poker dealer). Over time, you have come to know Alice quite well and think you may be falling in love with her. Because Alice keeps her emotions hidden, you are not sure if she feels the same way for you. Although you only have eyes for Alice, you have noticed Barb Cassidy (a bandit) continues to flirt with you while in the saloon. Unfortunately, you are not interested in Barb Cassidy and you are trying hard to find a way to let Barb down easy. The last thing you want to do is make an enemy out of an outlaw! Despite your feelings for Alice, your main goal is to keep your job by keeping the finances of the saloon in order. Although the tournament was supposed to bring in a great amount of profits, it has not. After Harry pays out the winner of the tournament, the saloon will not have enough money to repay the bank and the saloon will have to close its doors forever. If the saloon goes out of business, you do not know what you, or any of the other saloon employees, will do. With the Deadwood Poker Tournament Party quickly approaching, you are excited for the event to happen. Although you cannot see the party making as much money as you need to dig the saloon out of debt, Harry insists that by the end of the night, you will have more than enough money to pay the bank back in full! With that reassurance, you are excited for the party and all the customers that you will service!
Acting and Dressing Your Part:
As the bartender for the saloon, you are suave and debonair and have a way of complimenting each of the customers in your bar. You have learned it earns you better tips! Don’t forget your bow tie, mustache or apron.
