As a woman of the East, you are both liberated and educated. Being from a much less rugged environment than the West, you favor your fancy clothes and your clean nature. As a parent, you have raised Minnie (your daughter) the same way. The wife to Montgomery Money (a wealthy investor), you and your daughter have traveled to Deadwood on business. Montgomery is thinking of investing in land out here and he has voiced wanting your opinion on the matter. While in your home city of Chicago, Montgomery heard of the potential of the Deadwood Saloon being for sale by the bank. Being raised in the East, you have never cared much for anything you have heard about the West or ‘it’s people.’ You were appalled when Montgomery told you that he was considering investing in the West, and you thought it best to travel with him on the venture to Deadwood so that you could help him make a rational decision. Unfortunately, Montgomery was delayed on business earlier this week in St. Louis and was not able to join you until late Thursday night. You have spent the week in Deadwood with Minnie scouting out the city and the possible land investments around it. While you dislike Deadwood, Minnie has been fascinated by the saloon life, something that you are certain you will have Montgomery talk to her about. Just last night, Minnie returned to your room later than normal and very upset. Shortly before returning to your hotel room, you heard Minnie in the hallway arguing with Mitch Maverick (a gambler) where he ended whatever short-lived romantic relationship they were having. Later, you plan on instructing your husband to have a talk with Minnie about getting mixed up with these “men of the West” and, in particular, Mitch Maverick. Elated that Montgomery has finally arrived in Deadwood, you hope that he does not have any interest in investing out here. Not only do you disapprove of the ruggedness of the land, but the unlawfulness of the town upsets you as well. Earlier this week, there was a bank robbery at the Bank of Deadwood and you have seen little movement on the investigation by Sheriff Sam (the sheriff ), while he allows known outlaws ( Jesse Wales and Barb Cassidy) to roam the town freely!

As the Deadwood Poker Tournament Party approaches, you hope that it is the last event that you will have to attend before you leave the town of Deadwood forever. While at the party, you hope to make it clear to Montgomery that you do not want him doing business in the West. Additionally, the party will provide you with an opportunity to keep a close eye on your daughter Minnie, and make sure she keeps herself out of trouble and away from dangerous men!

Acting and Dressing Your Part:

As a dignified woman of the East, you like fancy clothes and consider yourself a woman with class—a thing obviously very foreign to the people here in Deadwood. You consider yourself above most locals and are most drawn to the people in town and at the party that are more educated, wealthy and originally from regions such as the East and the South. To the party, you will want to wear a Victorian-style dress with ruffles and lace gloves. A large, decorative hat and a parasol are other accessories you may want to consider.
