As one of the prettiest and most popular saloon girls at The Deadwood Saloon, you are also one of the most faithful employees. As a saloon girl, you work nightly in the saloon selling your dances to the men who will pay for them. When you arrived in Deadwood, you were very poor and without a job. On your trip to Deadwood, your husband was killed in a raid on your wagon but you were able to escape and made it to Deadwood. Once in Deadwood, it was Harry and Henrietta High-Stakes (the saloon owners) that took you in and gave you a job. As a result of their kindness, you feel as though you owe them the world. Because of your loyalty, you have stood by both Harry and Henrietta, even though you might not approve of their behavior. In the last couple of months, you have seen Henrietta’s secret love affair with Sheriff Sam (the sheriff ) escalate. In addition, you have witnessed Harry’s gambling habit go from bad to worse. Even though you do not approve of these behaviors you would do anything to keep your “saloon family” together. Although the tournament has been good for business, you prefer the time when there were not so many strangers in the saloon. Because of your popularity, your attention this week has been split between the travelers and gamblers that are here for the tournament and your regular customers—in particular Clay Coldwell. Because you have devoted a lot of time in the past to Clay Coldwell, you have grown emotionally attached to him and find yourself in love with him. Despite your deep affection for Clay, Henrietta High-Stakes has ordered that you only dance with the most high-paying customers this week in order to earn the most profits. This has caused you to stay away from Clay (you often give Clay your dances for free). At first you were very distraught by the order, but Henrietta confided in you that the saloon is having some financial troubles and, since this mandate is only until the saloon is out of debt, you agreed. With the Deadwood Poker Tournament Party swiftly approaching, you are excited to attend. Being the biggest party this side of the Mississippi, you anticipate earning loads of money with your dances. Once the saloon is out of debt, you are sure that you will have ample time to chase your affections for Clay Coldwell, but right now you need to do your job!
Acting and Dressing Your Part:
As a saloon girl, you should dress a little fancier with the intention of attracting men to ask (and pay) you to dance with them. To the party, your attire may include a ruffled skirt or dress with a lower-cut bodice, feather boa, and/or a feathers in your hair.
